Important Information

Contemporary is a style of dance that combines elements of modern dance, jazz, classical ballet, lyrical and even hip hop. The movement is varied but often employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics and exploration. Additionally, unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used. As well as movement and musicality described above, contemporary training also focuses on choreography and artistic expression within movement.
